Never been off, just had other things to do...
I suspect I shall no longer be reading every post in TPD... the OCD pills are working well.

I've just been working on a PIC sonar thingie that I built last year to prove some embedded software off the web thingie.
One of our esteemed students has taken it into its head to do a *
chinese copy
of this sonar thingie to include in its final year project.
*chinese copy: something replicated down to the last error in construction.

Purely out of interest & seeing what a pig's ear it had made of its
chinese copy
I thought I'd see if my breadboard still worked...
Oddly enough, it was completely & utterly tits up.

The ultrasonic transmitter was no longer connected to anything... and there seemed to be a lot of hum & ripple around...
This was because several wires had been misplaced, not to mention the missing / incorrectly postitioned transistors.
Fixed that & got the transmitter working.
