Pissy Old Lady House news; all the upstairs ceilings are down. This wasn't part of the original plan, but I was making such an arse of the overboarding idea that the only sensible option was to rip out all the original stuff and do it properly. It then turned out that the original boarding operation had been performed prior to the installation of the internal walls So, what with having to be careful for the bits i've already plastered, it turned into a bit of an epic, rather than the hammer swinging enjoyment it could have been.

Onwards and upwards though, tomorrow I can start with a clean slate (amber snow warnings permitting).

Tonight's tea was various Christmas leftovers with which I had been sent home, to which I added roast spuds and Yorkshires; so, basically, Christmas dinner all over again, and very nice too

So, they put you on a strict diet after your op, then, eh?

There seems to be some weird disconnect in people's minds, such that they'll say all the expected stuff about looking after myself and following medical advice to watch what I eat, then in the next breath exhort me to have more stuffing or a few more roast spuds "because after all, it's Christmas"

Anyway, I'm almost out of seasonal leftovers now, so I can start planning the vegetable-filled replacement for the ill-fated Scotch broth

Mm Keri Russel isn't a disconnect! Even Mich would!

Tonight's movie extravaganza was Apollo 13 (1995), which is about… well, you probably know. Now in 4K, thanks to the Apple TV, though to be honest one spends so much time thinking through the engineering problems involved that the visuals aren't really the main thing

And another episode of The Americans to follow. I must be getting near the end of season three of that now.

                    Goodnight all

                      Morning denizens

Very grey and gloomy start out there, with lots of what looks like very cold rain

I'm staying firmly inside near the fire for now
