Might be an idea to show some discretion and refrain from copying details of private exchanges with WTT onto this public forum - if you want them to do anything for you.

            £375 + VAT? That's ludicrously expensive.

HMRC are not interested in anything other than that you pay, appeal, postpone or a combination thereof. They do not want representations about what you were doing at this stage. If they have a question, they will ask you those question in a different letter. At which point you may need some help.

I am fairly certain that examples of these being sent have resulted in HMRC accepting, postponing and doing nothing else that requires input. For now, assuming you all want to appeal and postpone, all you need is this accompanied by your own references, case numbers etc:

In response to your notice of assessment for the 2011/12 tax year, dated XXXX.

Please accept this letter as my appeal against the notice of assessment. The loan in question does not represent earnings. Please also accept this letter as an application to postpone the total amount charged of £XXXXX.

That is what my colleague sent and it worked.

It's always the case that for the price of a pint, the man down the pub knows more than the professionals.

Makes you wonder how these professionals survive.

Received Email from AML for me to PAY to HMRC

Let me explain my status clear to everyone so that I get your advice

I am with AML since 2010 till 2016 (means I have screwed myself badly now)

HMRC have sent me APN letters for 2010/11 asking me to pay the tax on load amount (it is huge) and for the I contacted AML and now they are saying TO PAY to avoid any penalty where as they are still fighting my case against HMRC

AML is saying I should make payment now and if they win against HMRC then I will get my money back

But my problem is why should I pay after all the rosy words from AML that they are dealing with HMRC and they have best lawyers with them bla bla bla and now suddenly leaving me alone!!

I am now very scared as if HMRC comes to me for all 6 years then I am gone

I am totally new to this group and also new to dealing with APN's any suggestions to me are greatly appreciated

This is the first time I have heard AML say to pay an APN only previously warning that you could incur penalty and interest charges. I recommend joining the big group WTT Consulting | Tax Enquiry Specialists | London

letter from HMRC that they will investigate my 2014-2015 when I was with AML

                      Hi,

I have received similar letter from HMRC that they will investigate my 2014-2015 when I was with AML. Going through the posts it seems that most AML contractors will receive this at some point of time. Any idea if anyone has paid the amount to HMRC and how HMRC calculates the tax.
For example if someone has a 40K loan in 2012/13, 40K loan in 2013/2014 and 40K in 2014/2015,
                      How much HMRC is demanding? 40k*40% + 40k*40% + 40k*40% =xxxx
Could anyone please confirm. I have noticed that someone has been asked 64% for 2010/2011.

Also, has AML got successful results from appeals so far? Could anyone confirm please.

And has AML been helpful so far?

I understand AML has a big pool of contractors, so expecting some positive replies.

I was with them for over 3 years, so really concerned about this.

Also, if someone is forced to make a payment and the person is not having enough money, how HMRC arranges for the payment? Has anyone paid on a monthly scheme.

I know I have raised too many questions and this forum is quiet since April. Hope someone responds to my queries. Thats a lot in advance.
