Actually I've thought of many things, only years later to see someone else with the same thought.

It is only to be expected really.

According to Stephen Hawking alien visitors would more likely plunder our resources rather than try and have any sort of meaningful communication, which is what this film is about but it (laughably) portrays humans as the advanced race. Can't see the AGW connection?

I thought it was alright and I didn't see the 3D version, easily pleased I suppose.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

Because it might as well as have been made by swampy, you acknowledge it's an environutter film by quoting hawkings

if you can't see the eco warmist neo socialist claptrap about how we plunder our resources and destroy our planet, and ergo anything we do that harms the planets causes global warming and can only be cured by more taxes

Where have been the last generation ????

Nah, they would almost certainly be far more advanced than us* and we'd not have much to offer them in the way of plunder. A bit of anal probing and that's it.

                  * because the chances of them having technology far advanced of us greatly exceeds that of only just exceeding us, if they have technology to reach us, which in itself is far in advance of us.

No I don't, Hawking isn't famous for his environmental stance.

If we're not plundering our own resources why is oil so feckin' expensive eh?? This planet has been here for 6 billion years and we managed to use up most of the easily available stuff in a single century.

Personally I'm not convinced by the AGW argument but at the same time I'm not daft enough to think the human race can carry on needlessly wasting rather than innovating.
