    Guildford

    You should fit in fine.
Unfortunately it also provides refuge for the nastiest of Chavs and that most rare species: the ‘Rich Chav’

I also need good access to Heathrow and Gatwick (incase I need a quick escape).
Given you can't afford the rich areas, it's Hounslow or Croydon then.

Staines or Slough? Hard to choose...

            Yuck.
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

What about Woking? Better or worse than Guildford?

25 minute train from Woking, which is pretty good.

Not as good but has some nice areas as well as this cool War of the Worlds tripod.

edit: On reflection, those may be slightly too far south eastward round the M25 for your taste. But not to worry - Got just the place for you: Stanwell Moor

It's a small and self contained village, about a mile from the M3, and a mile from the M25 - Loads of nearby fields and woods, and lakes (not all reservoirs), as you can see from the satellite photos. There are some nice houses round there, and if it was any leafier you'd need a machete just to walk down the street.

Some might say that being a couple of miles from Heathrow airport was a slight snag. But what those mupps don't realize is that being a mile _perpendicular_ to the runways makes all the difference, as none of the planes goes overhead!

A while ago there was talk of building a railway along the inside of the M25 past Stanwell Moor, as part of the new Heathrow Terminal work; but that may have been cancelled. (If not then you'd have your fast rail link too!)

Oh and it's also handy for Heathrow Airport.

What's the most upmarket, green, safe areas I've listed above?
Rule of thumb for that kind of area is: the stupider the name, the nicer the suburb.
                      No to Kingston, Feltham, Hersham.
Yes to Martin's Heron, Virginia Water and The Winnersh Triangle.
