Does anyone claim for things like working tax credit/housing/ etc

Resign as a director and make your mum/aunt etc a director. Put the shares in trust for your dog. Your are now an employee.

I presume you'll be able to stop paying your ex child support money too ?

If she's anything like mine, that'll make her reconsider giving up the kids even for a few days

Working families tax credit takes into account dividends as well as salary. I'm sure that if you didn't take any dividends, then there are plenty of things that you could claim for.

Cant get nowt once you declare dividends. First time we claimed for child stuff i just declared my pittance and got a big cheque then realised i had to declare the divs, told them, and they took it back.

Thanks for the responses. I've already declared a dividend so looks like most things are out.

Of course, for working families tax credit, if you don't declare the dividend the first year, then when you do declare it, they just take it back over the next n years. I filled mine in the first year contracting, so didn't know what my income would be - so every year they write to let me know that I'm still paying back the credit I got paid.

Interest free loan from the government - nice
