What's up with it (still on an old version here) - do tell?

        "Old" plugins are KAPUT.

All of my essential ones, including NOSCRIPT

I'd like a simple (?) browser add-on that one could use to toggle scripting of a page off and back on, which includes disabling links and halting video playback, i.e. completely stopping the page in its tracks.

That way I can scan through the Daily Mail online main page without the perishing thing automatically refreshing itself when I'm half way through, or me accidently clicking a link or having distracting videos (mostly ads) playing away in the background pinching half the CP time

That must be why the Firefox team worked with extension developers for two years to ensure they had new versions, that don't depend on the horrendously insecure Netscape Plugin API, ready for today

And if a plugin you like is no longer under active development, then it's already horrendously insecure so you're better off without it.

EDIT to add: according to https://noscript.net/ the updated version of NoScript will be available "as soon as possible, even later today if we're lucky enough" so a little patience should see you through

That's three separate things: autoplay doesn't require scripting, and links don't require either of them, being the sole purpose for which the browser was originally invented by TBL before there was even an tag.

I daresay there's plugins that can do what you want: have a look on https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/

                    You mean an adblock plugin?
