This is true, which makes it quite ironic that the same people who are against mass immigration are the same ones who object to Britain spending money help other countries develop.

It means (to the people who are part of it) "Alternative Right". To most other people of moderate views (mainstream left or right wing, certainly not just liberal hand-wringers), it means bunch of racist bastards.
Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!

I don't doubt that many people trying their luck across the Med are economic migrants. However, for Syria at least you need to take into account that many of the people making this journey are making it precisely because they have got the money - they are middle-class and educated, in the main. It's the poorer working class that are left behind in camps in Turkey, Jordan, etc.

The EU is very much their oyster, they will never be deported and no doubt will gain EU citizenship at some point.
This is the crux of the matter, and why in our Brexit negotiations the UK must not cave in on Freedom of Movement!

Never get deported? Are you sure?

Germany deported a record 80,000 migrants denied asylum last year and that figure will rise again in 2017, a top official said, as Chancellor Angela Merkel seeks to win back conservative voters before elections in September. Peter Altmaier, Merkel's chief of staff, told Bild am Sonntag newspaper that nearly half of 700,000 asylum requests made in 2016 had been rejected, spelling another record high in deportations this year.

That is not what the UNHCR report says about education level.Try reading it is interesting.

My personal experience is that many businessmen get there because they are pushy not because mommy & daddy paid for college. I assume its the same for refugees.

I think you will find that mot people if they could see foreign aid making a difference to something other than the crown prince's car park then they would be all for foreign aid.

If I were king I would ask Mr & Mrs Gates & Warren Buffett to administer our aid to make sure we get bang for our buck.

of course we could give it to deserving causes

Genuine refugees have no hope of raising the money to get on those deathtrap boats, unless they're doing something illegal along the way, which is possible, or they have to submit to some form of slavery in order to get on the deathtrap boats, which is equally possible, and if anything, more likely. But the fact remains, the migrants mostly arrive in Italy and Greece, the two countries least able to cope with them, and what are the EU doing? Not much. I can't really blame the Italians for threatening to give the migrants an incentive (in the form of travel documents) in exchange for them leaving the country and moving North. Just as long as those travel documents are not valid at Dover.
unfortunately they do, they can borrow money from organised crime who then pad the debt so they are basically slaves. I recently posted a statistic about 95% of migrants paying organised crime, none of the bleeding hearts on CUK were shocked.

So when you enjoy that cockle, have your nails done in an oriental nail bar or experience a happy ending in a massage parlour (not sure any of you would - I hope not) then remember there is no happy ending for them they will be doing this until they die.
