TBH I don't give a tulip about the SOuthern European economies. The only reason Brexiters bang on about them is to show how "evil" Germany is. They can do what they like. The fact that they don't leave is because they were much worse off without the EU.
Point is Brexit has the capacity to make these so called failing Southern European economies look like stars compared to us, as the last quarter growth figures show.
    Hard Brexit now!

And it's obvious the ECB who hold all the monetary levers don't give a tulip about any economy apart from Germany, what makes you think the ECB would give a tulip about the UK if the UK had pursued further integration?

The ECB commitee which is responsible for setting interest rates has representatives from all the countries in the Eurozone, therefore it is complete nonsense to suggest the interest rates were set to suit Germany.

and note that the governer of the ECB is from Italy, not Germany.

What further integration? We have the pound, we set our own policy.

You can very well point out there are representatives from every country but to what end?
What has happened, has happened, the rates set by the ECB inflated a credit bubble in Greece and Spain, which popped when credit markets froze up in 2008, collapsing those economies, and the response of the ECB since 2009 has only served to prolong the recessions.

You know the truth doesn't work with Brexiters. Germany are the bad guys and no logic will convince them otherwise. They won't be happy until we are at war again with Germany!

Well done, but you could have just started with your Daily Mail rants from the start instead of pretending you were after a proper debate on all the complex issues of the day.
Did you even read the article? These aren't refugees these are economic migrants with 1500 Euro in their back pocket for a 12 mile trip and there are hundreds of thousands if not millions moving across Europe's outer border every year.

I posted this to counter another poster who said that we have control of our borders when quite clearly we do not. By all means feel free to dismiss what I'm saying as some right wing rant, but even EU officials are saying that this will destroy the EU in short order if left unchecked.

This is just more breathless hyperbole from remain, no one is saying Germany is evil or it was their intention to become the dominant power in the EU. It is just a natural outcome of being the largest most powerful nation in the block. The reality however can not be denied, whatever the reasons, the EU is now nothing more than a German run club with member states reduced to the status of vassals.

Any further integration will happen on German terms to ensure their dominance.
