    Man of the people

Apologies for posting a daily fail link.

But this guy is off the chart. Congrats are in order for people voting in a dictator. People that stupid deserve what they get.

Luxury-loving tyrant with a palace 30 times the bigger than the White House: GUY ADAMS reveals the opulence of Erdogan's £500million official residence

Even before the result of this week’s referendum, Turkey’s autocratic President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan enjoyed the trappings and lifestyle of an aspiring dictator.

Take, for example, the lavish official residence he had built on the outskirts of Ankara, the capital, at the expense of his ever generous taxpayers.

Perched atop a hill overlooking the city and completed three years ago, the Ak Saray — White Palace — extends to an astonishing 1,100 rooms, some 250 of which are for the sole use of the moustachioed 63-year-old and his immediate family.

Decked out in every despot’s favourite style, with marble floors, gold fittings and acres of red carpet, it’s 30 times the size of the White House and is believed to be the largest palace built, anywhere in the world, for more than 100 years.

Apology accepted. The election was rigged as all are in the region.

Erdogan’s referendum victory will make Turkey prey for the country’s many enemies | The Independent

Late on election day the head of the Electoral Board overseeing the process decided that votes not stamped as legally valid, numbering as many as 1.5 million, would be counted as valid, quite contrary to the practice in previous Turkish elections. An even cheekier ploy was to announce that cities with large Kurdish populations in south-east Turkey, where Erdogan’s security services have brutally crushed dissent, had swung in his direction.
These possible signs of fraud come in addition to the detention of journalists, MPs and activists and the takeover or closure of almost 150 media outlets. Some 145,000 people have been detained or arrested and a further 134,000 sacked for alleged links to the attempted military coup on 16 July 2016 which is the excuse for a purge in which anybody suspected of dissent is targeted as “a terrorist”. Erdogan already holds arbitrary power under a state of emergency under which parliament, the judiciary and other power centres will be brought under the full control of “an executive presidency”.
They didn't have any choice they rigged the election, I imagine after this the EU will accelerate membership !
Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.

Something we can agree on. There was some talk on the radio last night concerning tourist bookings to Turkey being on a very steep downward slide. Hardly surprising really, my money's on a summer of riots and tanks on the streets. Their EU application just got moved to the bottom of the pile.
His heart is in the right place - shame we can't say the same about his brain...

I think their application to join the USA went up a few notches though.

He's just sowing the seeds of another war. He will be found hiding in a cellar somewhere in the middle of nowhere and will get shot by some village idiot or a death squad.

Those guys don't learn anything, but the military industrial complex loves them, because guys like him help sell guns, bombs, and expensive toys.
            You're awesome! Get yourself a t-shirt.

Why would Turks want to come here when their relations are in Germany?

                    But this guy disagrees!

In a cynical mode I could say that this sort of dictator will fit in just fine with the EUSSR.....

But in reality I think this good spell trouble.... just not sure for who!
