    Dangerous Hotpoint Tumble Dryers!

Watch out if you have one of these

An investigation by the London fire brigade concluded that an Indesit tumble dryer was to blame for a serious blaze in an 18-storey tower block in west London.
The fire chiefs – along with Which? and the Chartered Trading Standards Institute – urged Whirlpool to change its advice to customers so that any dryers waiting to be modified are not used. Whirlpool had rejected that advice until now.

Defeats the object surely - you'd have to wash the dry stuff again to get rid of the smokey aroma. Very poor design concept.

Which had to threaten to take Peterborough trading standards to court to get them to act against Whirlpool.

I cant believe they didn't do this before, that fire in a block of flats a few years back were people died was started by such a drier, the companies involved should of sorted it as I would never buy anything they produce because of there lack of action.

We chased them up and couldn't even get a replacement. They offered to sell us another one at a discounted price, but no stock!

Ended up buying a top end Miele - sometimes just makes things easier buying quality.

The MiL had one of the Beko's that were going up in smoke not so long ago and that's exactly what it did. Thankfully it was in an outside shed but very scarey.

If there was even a hint any white goods I had could this it would be the bin in a heartbeat.

The next one will be a Miele. We made the mistake a couple of years ago of replacing a Bosch with another Bosch, on the basis that the previous one lasted a good 10 years and never even blinked. Turns out they're now made by someone else, in Albania or somewhere similar, and then someone who has never even heard of Germany sticks a Bosch label on them. s
