I favour the clown verdict myself.
What I love about Clarkson is that he has the ability to wind up the right the on lefties with their patronising homourlous and mostly sanctimonious attitudes. This includes the climate change lobby who take themselves so seriously.

He is in fact a childlike figure who just happens to be very sharp witted and articulate. You just have to look at the people he upsets to approve of him

Clarkson is really 'against' nobody - there is no hatred in him.

What he says on TV many people say down the pub

and it is quite refreshing to listen to someone who does not wish to conform to the blandness that is expected of people in the public eye.

most of the haters are actually just jealous because he gets paid to hoon about in nice cars

Jeremy Clarkson and his Top Gear team are forced to leave Argentina early 'under police escort' after inciting Falklands outrage with H982 FKL number plate
BBC team reportedly forced to leave country three days early
They were 'pelted with stones' by angry Falklands War veterans
The ex-soldiers then marched on their hotel and demanded they leave
They were reportedly forced to abandon their vehicles at a police road block
Argentinians now claim all the presenters' cars had offensive number plates
Richard Hammond's plate had digits 269 while James May's contained 646
Argentinian councillor claims these are close to the numbers of British and Argentinian casualties
              hmm
Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.

                  La Aduana

The cars had foreign number plates and therefore would have to go through a 'tramite' (a process of great length) through the 'aduana' (customs) which would have taken at least 4 weeks and under the eyes of many bureaucrats - and they didn't see it???

Even if they had a 'fixer' to pay the customs off - they didn't see it either?

I'm not even an atheist so much as I am an antitheist; I not only maintain that all religions are versions of the same untruth, but I hold that the influence of churches, and the effect of religious belief, is positively harmful. [Christopher Hitchens]

It's true that he appears to have a lot of fun poking the politically correct lobby in the eye and usually manages to stay just the right side of the point where they can get pissed off enough to get action taken against him. I still think the bridge that wasn't 100% level was ok too

He's certainly cracked it in blokey ambition terms of making a pile of cash, upsetting people and hooning about in fast cars
