Been far too quiet round here. Anyone watching the latest developments in the ME?

On The Verge Of Catastrophe: Saudi Arabia Says Lebanon Declared War | Zero Hedge

Israel Begins "Largest-Ever Aerial Military Drill", As Saudis Consider Missile Strike "Act Of War" | Zero Hedge

Looks like it's Saudi/Israel vs Lebanon/Iran warming up. No doubt the US will drag us in and Russia/China will back the other side.

Better pay those taxes you filthy dodgers, wars don't come cheap. And another top tip - shares in weapons/defense companies will go todamoon! But don't keep them in an ISA or SIPP as that would be morally repugnant.

Quite right too. ZeroHedge - pillar of 'factual' journalism and news - has such articles on show. We had better stock up on the beans. I trust such nonsense 'news' sources for my every day life - which is why I never leave the house, have became an anti-<insert race/ethnic minority/religion>, blah blah.

Are you a 15 year old social moron? No wonder Trump managed to win; people are hungry for any old crap news these days, no matter if it was pumped online by a random 'journalist'. ZeroHedge don't employ journalists, they use inflammatory language precisely to ensure people such as yourself click and generate revenue for them.

        Have you considered: not.

Here are the same stories from 'reputable' news sources:

Saudis accuse Iran of 'direct aggression' over Yemen missile - BBC News

I'll ignore the rest of your diatribe - only interested in what actually is happening around the world.

Something most people forget, or don't want to know, especially after a long period of peace, but when the conditions are right for war, it can all kick off and spread pretty quickly.

This does seem like plan B after the failed Syrian regime change. It's looking a bit desperate and panicky. Still - at least we can feel good that Bojo has signed us up if it all kicks off:

Mr Johnson had "expressed his condemnation of launching a ballistic missile by Houthi coup militias" and affirmed "Britain's stand with the kingdom of Saudi Arabia in confronting security threats".

On that I have to say I'm 100% with Bojo, as we absolutely rely on the US in so many ways, and will even more after Brexit.

So if Trump announced the US planned to invade Antarctica, to tackle hordes of ISIS terrorists disguised as penguins, then the UK MOD should urgently start assembling snow ploughs and all-white gear for the British troops that would be needed to join the US!

                  Excellent word: diatribe. Bravo.

Articles in most online pseudo news may infrequently have similar content to 'main stream' news. That doesn't suddenly validate them as worthy news sources! The sooner we reject such online mis-news sources, the sooner we can get back to credible news that is well-researched by journalists. The very reason these mis-news sources appeared is because journalism became so heavily reliant on journalists who have to mis-report in order to make ends meet, as less and less people are paying hard cash to buy newspapers and magazines.

By relying on these news sources of unknown ownership and origin you are less able to distinguish between what is credible and what is mis-reported and/or nonsense. This will skew your viewpoint over the coming years; from which it sounds as if you won't know how to evaluate where you were mislead. Doesn't sound good to me.

Luckily only the USA has nukes and would never use them so it will all be fine.....

No, alternate news sources (the more trustworthy ones) tell us what our "credible news that is well-researched by journalists" don't tell us about certain events or give us different sides to stories that said "credible news that is well-researched by journalists" want us to believe. Such as "Saddam Hussein has WMDs that will reach us in 45 minutes we must invade Iraq immediately"

Your "credible news that is well-researched by journalists" has been shown up time and again as 'fake news' which loses more credibility every time it tries to take back control of the narrative.

My approach is to do a round robin of "credible news that is well-researched by journalists" and also alternative news sites to see the different spins on various stories. For instance let's take the latest story about Saudi Arabia banging the war drum and Bojo's 'commitment' to supporting it. Then include the following story into the mix and there is a bigger picture that makes more sense:

UK sales of bombs and missiles to Saudi Arabia increase by almost 500% since start of Yemen war | The Independent

Unfortunately for your precious "credible news that is well-researched by journalists" they've lied to us so many times that more and more people look elsewhere for what's really going on. The establishment and their media bullhorns have lost the narrative. No amount of 77th brigades and internet censorship can force that to change. The only way the powers that be can win back any respect is to start actually serving the people they supposedly represent and getting onto the right side of history.
