Default I smell a rat with LA International

Hi, this is my first post!

I am an IT contractor that has recently landed a job with the MET. I specified my daily rate prior to interview and I nailed the interview and was offered the job. The recruiter then said that that another candidate was cheaper than me and the employer has asked if I would consider dropping my rate by 10%, i agreed but was not happy.
A friend has just landed a similar job with the MET and quoted the same daily rate as me. He also got the job and was not asked to negotiate the rate.
It seems odd that this role is worth £xxx per day but LA international didnt fight my corner for my desired rate.
I suspect i was offered the job at the rate i wanted but LA want to take a bigger chunk of the pie. Is there anything i can do abut this as another friend has landed a job with LA and all the guys around him are on more but doing the same job!

Thanks

Default this old chestnut

It's always handy to know what other Contractors are on doing similar roles on the same site, but ultimately you have to know your own skills/market and be happy with the rate you agree when you start a role.

There's no point getting upset about Agents trying to maximise their margins, that's their job!!

"i agreed but was not happy" isn't a good way to start a Contract...

Next time, don't agree. When it comes to renewal, ask for a 15% rise. Don't settle for less than 11.12%.

Was this for a PDA rollout? If so, then I've missed out! Damn....

ok ive got my balls out and gone back to the recruiter. Ive found out they are charging a percentage so it was in their intrest to get me a higher rate and there may not be a rat in LA after all.
As my start date wasnt confirmed they need to send out a new contract. Ive said im not happy and would like to renegotiate my rate. Seeing as my MET clearance came through yesterday (after 2 months of checks) it should work for me....Or they may tell me to **** off

words or encouragement would be nice
