Default Short project anyone?

Well, had a meeting with my client today. and he's delayed the implementation of the final stage of a project by four weeks. Which
is a bummer as I only get paid when its completed and this is after delaying it by six weeks previously. I'll never get paid at this rate.

I need another project to pay the bills. Anyone recommend any good freelance sites. Or even better...need a Oracle PL/SQL programmer, Access programmer, VB programmer!

Time to suggest to the client that they are in default and present them with the invoice as if you had completed the work.

It is what would be done by EDS, IBM, Fujitsu, CSC, Accenture, etc....

Thinks... get legal advice. They are preventing you from fulfilling the contract - there's a posh legal word for that.

Derogation from grant, I suspect. But whether it is or not depends on the terms of the contract.

sorry, it's not derogation from grant at all. Similar concept though

What kind of a 'cock headed' contract is that. It's possible for a software project never to be 'completed'. So you worked for free during the last 6 week, and they want some more freebies?

Why aren't you getting hourly or daily paid like us mere contracting mortals. We don't give a ***t about delays - we get paid and the more the better. As for any IR35 stuff - I'd take the risk - I make sure I get paid for every hour on site.

It is the kind of contract where, at the risk of making a loss, you actually stand a chance of making some profit. If elvis had completed within a month he'd be well in the money. As it is, he just has to wait a little longer to get paid, and can spend the intervening period bringing in cash from somewhere else.

By charging by the hour you minimise the risk but you will never be able to use your skills to complete the project more efficiently and make your money more easily.

Don't you find it depressing to walk into work every day knowing that even if you spend that day coming up with the most groundbreaking ideas the world has ever known, and work 10 times more efficiently than ever before, it will never earn you more than the fixed meagre £x00 you'd have got by playing Minesweeper all day?

Only just spotted this - I need something developed, as per my post in Technical. Only a couple of days work, due to its simplicity, but you're welcome to it if you want it. Would suit Access/VB.

PM me if you're interested.
