For those of you who do care about the world around them, have a bit of light reading (there's an summary for the time-pressed or easily distracted...). It will put some of the above into persepctive.

It's each individuals job to position themselves correctly with the client. I get some stick from fellow 'contractors' about my attitude to the client and my working practices, but it is exactly that which gives me a higher level of confidence that I am acting professionally as a supplier to the client (albeit through the agency), rather than a bum-on-seat temp...

No, I'm not. I'm a separate legal entity from my company...

Had a quick look. It would be nice wouldn't it.
You're dealing with incompetent people in the main who went straight from being socialist worker reading uni nutjobs doing lentil recipe degrees into government. They will never get it. I'm not saying it isn't worth trying to be reasonable with these people, but I don't fancy your chances.

Chris, the "BASIC" program in your "sig" is as buggy as a dead buffalo, you should use the ":" as an end of statement indicator, not the ";".
Hope that helps. Get it right and I might take you seriously, not that it matters.

PCG want the government to be open and honest!!!!
In so many areas we are not treated as citizens we are treated as scum. The amazing thing is that joe public has not invaded Downing Street and strung the prime minister and all MPs up.

Well thanks for that information, I'm not a programmer by trade and it was done from memory (all the way back in the 80s when I was a kid), so I guess it could potentially have bugs in.
It was meant more as a joke going back to when I first joined up on here and got flamed for not using the search button, but I can see how the anal people on here might pick up on this as it must stick in their eye like a sharp object every time their brain subconsciously debugs it; for that reason alone I won't be changing it he he! (Not that it matter right)!
If you can't take my posts seriously because of this flaw, then I won't be losing any sleep over it.

Because Joe Public hasn't the faintest idea about how HMRC approaches thier work; if you're on PAYE they're largely invisible.
The PR from the PCG is all about getting HMRC to have a duty of care; right now (as Montpelier's "clients" are discovering) as long as they get their cut, they don't care what collateral damage they cause. Arctic was another example. £500k and five years spent to recover a £7k bill that might have resulted in a gross annual tax recovery of no more than £200m. Geoff Jones is a strong and determined man and Diana went through several kinds of hell over that case; a weaker pair would have crumbled long before. Not exactly the way we want our country run, is it?
