    I've used always used purchase orders. Bigger work has been through contracts and POs.

    Only had one interesting thing in a contract once which stated that the company had to inform the client about subcontracting the work. As it was fixed price, I wasn't too worried about it but could have been a pointer to employed status under other circumstances.
