I think we've established I'm crazy...
Ah well the trick is that I don't pay for the degree in that I don't have to as an EU citizen, come August I hope to be firmly planted in Sweden.
The market for Java peeps is quite strong there, but moving there means settling as well. It's all timing though, if I get there before Brexit I maintain my rights as an EU citizen and leech off them for a bit (mwahahaaha).
Furthermore if the IT sector dies in London I have three of the five years needed to get an EU passport, that allows me to be more mobile and therefore attractive for increasingly international business. And push comes to shove I could steer clear of London for a tiny bit and plant roots for a while, preferably close by like Germany or France (and yes I intend to learn the languages proper within the next four years).
Umm, it makes sense in my head. I also really like snow and Swedish girls are super cute. I've been rambling on for a while now, so I guess to clarify I am looking for max 6 month contracts (right now at least) so I can move shop into Viking land. Thankfully I've got some bites. Still though the amount of helpdesk stuff in London is tiny (Christmas is a bad time to start looking according to a fella from my previous firm) atmComment

Most help desk stuff has been off-shored.
Oh and if you are skilled above developer level you won't have a problem getting work abroad.
However having a degree in a non-relevant discipline may mean you need more experience than someone who has."You’re just a bad memory who doesn’t know when to go away" JRComment

Hey now I've learnt a lot simply from you all bouncing ideas sharply in my direction.
I never thought is would be easy and if I fail I lose a year and some savings at best.
I haven't wasted your breath or your time; I am much better clued up now than a week ago. And that's thanks to you guys.
And I do have a good though crazy reason for Sweden - a research specialism, not an IT one *shock horror* but I do have interests and I won't sacrifice them just yet becuase I'm still young.
If 99 out 100 are full time and 100% contracters, I will damn well work to be that 1 in 100. I might fail, I might suceed.Comment

Also lots of people on here don't have Computer Science/IT undergraduate degrees but they have degrees in STEM or business subjects.
Final tip if you do a degree where you can have a BA or BSc, take the BSc."You’re just a bad memory who doesn’t know when to go away" JRComment
