I'm new to contracting so don't really have a more buoyant market to gauge things on.

I was lucky to only be looking for a few weeks (after an exit from perm) but admittedly, of the three interviews I had two were from direct contact with recruitment agents I'd worked with in the past as a customer with only one being in response to a jobserve ad. The two roles straight from agents I hadn't seen adverts for.

God knows what it'll be like finding contract #2 but it appeared that there were quite a few PM/Prg Man vacancies when I was looking.

Really? friend of mine has been looking for ages. She's in a role at the moment but not finding much on the market/money is rubbish.

Maybe location related or maybe I'm a cheap date - dunno. I interviewed for three roles in the space of a week, two Midlands and one in MK and got offers for them all so was fortunate to be more fussy.

Perhaps I was just lucky at the time? Did appear to me that there were a few roles out there. I'm a PM, lots of logistics/defence experience largely focussed on infrastructure so maybe there's more opportunity there? What does your friend do?

Posh North Londoner. Considers Victoria to be south of the river which VERY strictly speaking it is.
She's done a lot of public sector work, not much private on her CV. You certainly wouldn't be scrapping over the same kind of roles.

Victoria is North of the river.

Really!? You seem confused! First there's lots of jobs with decent money then there's none because someone's been looking ages and the market \ money is rubbish.

              Which is it?

Same job ads from different agencies & or fake ads to harvest CV's! Try applying for & landing these roles is another matter altogether unless you have the perfect niche currently in-demand skillset and are 110% a match you will find the ads might be there but converting to the actual role is another matter altogether! Never assume all these ads are real roles either as many are the same role spread across many different job sites to keep agency staff busy. Also many companies have HR policies which require the job to be externally advertised a certain number of days the actual role is already as good as filled with an internal candidate but they have to follow the HR best practices rule.......

Gatwick Express, Southern and South Eastern Trains start and terminate there so it must be South of the river.

Sorry taking the p as clearly trains and people from South London and the Southern Home counties can't go over the river.
