    Contract wording changes

    Hi all,

Had a contract review completed and it passed but they recommended some wording changes. How have you approached this with agents?

I'm making some changes myself to the quotation documents to cover some bits but they are recommending changing individual wordings from 'agree' to 'discuss' which sounds like semantics to the untrained eye but I don't have a law degree so.....

Send them a mail telling them you've had it checked by a contract specialist and you need to have these changed made. They'll tell you no one had ever queried it before and all contractors have signed it as it is. Send them a mail again saying you've had it checked by a contract specialist and you need these changes making. Rinse and repeat until they either fold or it becomes apparent they really won't change it and then you've got a decision to make.

^^ This. Its funny the amount of times I have asked for changes based on a review only to be told that no other contractor has ever had a problem with their contract . They will change it though as they can literally smell the money by now

I spoke to the agent who obviously hasn't got a clue what the contract wording means but they do have a legal person who I've spoken to previously so they are going to send it through.
Just feels like deliberately walking into a wall just for the fun of it but it needs to be right to protect my company.
I know you should walk away when it doesn't meet your expectations but always tough.
