    Need good advice (tax advisor)

Hi, can anybody help me to choose a trustworthy tax specialist. I have been filling my own tax returns now and now have tax bill over £130k. My accountant has been raided by HMRC and he has shut down. No contact for past three months. I have talk to HMRC and they want every penny of Tax immediately, no concessions what so ever. Please PM me any good accountant / tax adviser details. Suraj

I think you need a brief not a tax advisor...

Are you a member of IPSE?

    Where has the money gone?

Doxxing yourself never a good idea when it comes to these matters. I'd ask an admin to change your username.

Was the accountant's name Darren by any chance? Seriously, it sounds like you are in deep, deep s**t to me. Where has the money gone? Have you actually submitted all your tax returns? Don't forget, you are responsible for this, not the accountant.

Maybe I missed something, but what are IPSE going to do if the bloke has been ripped off by a rogue accountant?

The IPSE "legal helpline" (which is actually no help at all worth speaking of) could not even tell me whether a non disclosure agreement I was asked to sign was OK or not. So how are they going to help this poor guy?

You will be able to get TTP - Time To Pay.

The fact that you cannot means there is something you are not telling us.

Is bankruptcy the best way forward?

Just seen a post by the OP on the BG thread. This is looking bad.

To be fair the legal helpline can only advise on points of law, not specific contracts or individual contract terms. They are not covered to render a legal opinion, only to explain what the law is. There are plenty of qualified sources to advise on the details of a given contract.

But I agree IPSE's help will be limited in what is either a civil case against a poor accountant or a criminal one of fraud or whatever.

As has been said, the OP has bigger problems to resolve first...

Maybe the OP should have been a bit more careful, and joining IPSE and/or doing some reading up first would have been extremely useful.

As you say, HMRC do not mess about and its not worth getting on their bad side.
