    Selecting an accountant

    I've worked my last day as an employee now, i'll be working for myself soon(Private limited company seems to be the way to go from what I'm reading) but am currently enjoying a break. I do need to get some things moving along though now, my question to you guys is;

    Do pretty much all accountants have facilities and packages available for someone moving to work for themselves, as I understand it I am looking at 50 - 80 quid a month fixed price, with the possibility of them throwing in a company name as part of the package, is that right? do they do this?

    I'd like to keep the accountant local so that occasionally I can see him or is this simply not necessary and I can do all this with any accountant from just about anywhere?

    would appreciate your views,
    J.

    Cue the usual suspects... (or should that be queue?)

      You’re about right bridder. 50 to 80 quid seems to be the going rate. Choose an accountant who specialises in IT contractors. I don’t think it’s really necessary to visit the accountant face to face, but within that price range you will find accountants who have offices around the country if you want that service (SJD – who I use - being an example).

        You cut me to the quick :rolleyes

        The reason I recommend my accountant on ************ (link at top of page) is more about sharing a great deal with fellow contractors than the few pieces of silver that cross my palm for an introduction.

        True they don't rent temporary meeting rooms when needed - maybe that is what puts them at the bottom of that price range rather than the top?

          Sorry Fiddle.

          Actually I used them myself.
